Maytag wringer washers

Just was wondering if any of you survival prep guys are using the old maytag wringer washers. They can be hooked up to a gas engine easily and/or probably run with a dc motor or off an inverter. I think the motors were 1/3 hp.

Also, if anyone has some sitting in the basement or out in the garage, I buy them, get them gone over and then resell them. Shipping is always a consideration though. PM me if anyone has any interest in selling or buying.

Hey-
I've got one in my old camper trailer in AK. I use the perforated stainless drum out of a junk commercial washing machine to build a fire in, grate on top, a 50 gal drum to heat water in. Wheel the washer out onto the back door of the trailer (converted stock trailer), bucket in hot water, wheel up the rototiller, slip off the belt and wash clothes with the rototiller. TITS, and all free.:s1:

My folks had a gasoline engine powered one when I was a kid. If the need arises, I'll be going pretty low tech here...but labor intensive.

Yeah, I've seen the maytag club site. I'm only working with the 1939 and newer ones. Preverably the complete tub rather than the 2 piece tub.

There are alot of manual powered ways that go along with a homesteading idea. The plunger in the big ole washtub or 1/2 of a 55 gal barrel seem ok. For removinng excess water? That cider press is only used a couple times a year.. Sounds like a plan. :)

I don't think those old machines work very well on bloodstains.

If there is no electricity, problems like clean clothing are waaay down on my list of priorities.
